11 days are not enough to visit the stunning Sri Lanka, unless you get on a crazy bus… in that case you’ll need less days to go all the way round (you just need to survive the journey! 😊)
We had only few days, so we decided to spend them in the south west area of the island.
Ocean, beaches, turtles, forts, tea plants, temples and huge statues are just some of the stunnings things you’ll see in this area.
Not to forget the funny and bizarre people we met. Here all the posts related
Here is our tour in December:
Day 1: Colombo Int. Airport- Negombo with a fast tuk tuk
Day 2: Negombo – bus to Colombo railway station – train to Bentota (are you hungry? no worries here you’ll find info on the food on a train)
Day 3: Bentota – train to Hikkaduwa where we met turtles and crazy grandpa– autobus to Galle
Day 4: Inside the Galle fort to meet its nice inhabitants – autobus per Matara
Day 5: Matara – bus to Mirissa
Day 6: Mirissa – bus to Tangalle
Day 7: travel around Tangalle with a motorbike and eat a tasty roti on the beach
Day 8: Tangalle – bus to Ella where we got lost among tea plants
Day 9: Ella – panoramic train to Kandy
Day 10: riding around temples in Kandy
Day 11: Kandy – bus to Negombo
Special advises: buses have TVs that show the traditional dances and music… if it’s a long journey it can become really frustrating otherwise you’ll enjoy it! Try always to find a seat on the bus because bus drivers are really crazy!!! If you are not in a hurry, trains are definitely a more relaxing option. 😊
